What we do

The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) inspires commitment to UMBC. We lead fundraising, communications, and economic development initiatives to support the University’s strategic priorities and goals for enrollment; student and alumni success; teaching and research reputation; workforce development; fundraising; and government and community relations, among others.

We seek to engage and cultivate relationships with individuals, foundations, corporations, alumni, faculty, and colleagues to achieve UMBC’s goals using our expertise, partnerships, and resources. We are committed to thoughtfully stewarding relationships and strategically approaching opportunities that serve and support UMBC and its community.

Our Core Areas

Our fundraising teams build strong relationships with our alumni, corporate and foundation partners, and campus community members to advance the goals of the University. Our corporate and foundation relations and major gifts teams work hard to strengthen and grow these important relationships. We also empower the community to collaborate with our donors to acknowledge their generous contributions to the University made through the UMBC Foundation.

Our alumni engagement team works to keep alumni connected and engaged with one another, current students, faculty, and staff through educational, charitable, social, and cultural programs. Whether it’s requesting alumni and donor information or honoring alumni for their professional and personal achievements, our Alumni Engagement team can help.
